Fossil Bay Lodge is a unique destination for travellers who love to be surrounded by birdsong, lush foliage, and tranquility. Five spacious bell tents located across the Delamore family's large Oneroa farm property are open for bookings from October to May, each featuring a private 'wine barrel' bathroom at very affordable rates.
The Delamore family have owned and lived on the property since the 1960s and have since transformed it from empty grass pasture to a working organic farm and finally to the verdant landscape it is today. Fossil Bay Farm is a haven for native bird life, with tui, fantails, wood pigeons, morepork owls, and many others often heard. Located a 5-minute drive away from Matiatia Ferry Terminal and a scenic 15-minute walk to Oneroa Village, it’s close to the action yet removed for an idyllic stay on the island.
Glamping Tents
The five ‘glamping’ tents are placed in picturesque spots across the property, giving both privacy and views. All glamping tents provide a luxuriously soft bed, sissal carpet flooring, cane furniture, clothing storage, power packs, and battery lanterns. Towels are provided for use in the private wine barrel bathroom which has a rain shower head, basin, mirror, and toilet.
One larger tent is also available with a king-sized bed and additional outdoor kitchenette space, complete with mini fridge, kettle, and gas cooker making it ideal for a longer stay on Waiheke Island.

Perfect getaway.
What a beautiful place! If you're looking for a relaxing, peaceful getaway, surrounded by nature then this is the place for you! The owner Mike is a really kind genuine man who couldn't have been more accommodating. If you're wanting to meet a lot of people and party I would recommend staying elsewhere. This is ideal for couples wanting a romantic break or a person who wants some time to themselves as we didn't really meet many other people. We stayed in the blue cottage and it is a little like 'glamping', there is only one shower and toilet between the cottages however we never really found ourselves waiting to use them.
The only downside for us was that the rooms got very hot so perhaps a fan might be a nice addition to the cottage - and bring some mozzie spray! That can't be avoided through and did not affect how much we enjoyed our time here.
Thanks again and we look forward to returning in the future.
