Stay - The Moorings

As one can see in the photos, the view is amazing. It's up on a hill so the only sound you hear basically is wildlife. We stayed here for one night and while it is located close to the ferry, we had a hard time finding a cab that would take us here for the reason that it's very close. We thought about walking but the hill is quite steep, we were jet-lagged, and had heavy luggage. We ended up finding someone to bring us up and I think he charged us $5 which wasn't bad at all.

The room was spacious and comfortable. If you open the windows and doors, a lovely breeze passes through, which also provided for wonderful ventilation when we cooked dinner that night. There is no stovetop so cooking on portable ones was a new experience for us but it worked just fine.

One thing I would like to see change is the water pressure of the shower. It was a trickle so shower-time was not pleasant but basic shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are provided, and like many NZ accommodations, there's a towel warmer. It wasn't necessary during the summer, but I can imagine how cold it could get in that bathroom (don't worry, there's a heater in there, too).

Overall, it's a nice place to stay but if we were to return to Waiheke Island, I would look into staying somewhere else.
