Discover - Blackpool Beach

Blackpool Beach

Blackpool beach is located on the south side of the island in Huruhi Bay; a wide shallow bay with tidal mud flats.

As with other south-side beaches it is often breezy, being exposed to the prevailing southerly wind. This makes it a popular spot for activities such as windsurfing and kitesurfing. Blackpool is also a good spot for sea kayaking. Swimming is possible at high tide.

Blackpool Beach is only a 10-minute walk from Oneroa village. Exploring further than the beach, you will find the esplanade road, an unsealed strip in between Blackpool and Surfdale beaches. Although previously closed to traffic, the esplanade is now open to vehicles again. It still remains a popular walking and cycling route as well.

There are no public toilets located at Blackpool Beach; the closest facilities are in Oneroa Village.
