Waiheke Island artist Gwen Rutter is renowned for her vibrant paintings of island landscapes and flora.
A self-taught artist Gwen initially worked as a watercolourist, a transition to acrylic painting in recent years has seen Gwen’s art practice flourish as she has used her skills to blend the vibrant colours of island flora and ocean views. Gwen currently works with a split-vision format, dividing her canvases to offer landscape views and details of New Zealand native flowers and trees.
Gwen’s studio is set in gardens and native bush in tranquil Rocky Bay, Waiheke Island. The studio at 67 Fairview Cresent is open to the public on weekends and public holidays from 11am. to 3pm, or by prior arrangement.
